This book will show you how to be a winner in life – all the time! You can be a winner when you win or everything goes in your favour but you can also be a winner when things don’t go as planned.

This book is about HUMAN NATURE! It will demonstrate to you how easy it is to be happy, wealthy and wise.

Life is a school where everyone is learning all the time from birth onwards; Life is a stage where everyone plays various roles and Life is a game whereby the quality of your interaction with other human beings determines your success and happiness.

After reading and understanding the contents of the book you will feel that you are winning in the journey of life and will experience that level of contentment and tranquillity that money or medication cannot achieve. You will be able to understand why there is so much unhappiness, insincerity, frustration, and aggression, lack of scruples, frequent and unusual types of crimes, marriage breakups, and problems associated with children, work problems, unemployment, finance problems and political turmoil. You will know why there is absence of smiles and laughter but abundance of tears too painful to watch. You will be able to explain why human beings have become impatient, discourteous and aggressive and that warmth towards humanity is lacking and individuals are becoming more isolated.

The preparation of this book began 33 years ago. However, the actual need for such a book has been felt more so now than ever before. It does not claim in any way to offer customised solutions or information that is relevant to each individual personally. If it has helped to form in the mind of the reader a philosophy and an understanding of life on which to base one’s strategies then the book will have achieved its purpose. All the efforts have been made to convey a clear, unbiased, unprejudiced and impartial view that is applicable to all human beings. Whether one is white, brown, black, blue, yellow or whether one is a Hindu, Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist or Sikh, we are all first and foremost human beings. All the characteristics that apply to a human being apply to each and every one of us without exception. We all belong to ONE race called the Human Race.

Each and every chapter in the book encompasses either directly or indirectly the true features of HUMAN NATURE. It is easy to understand human nature if you are interested in it. As each and every day of one’s life entails dealing with human nature in one form or the other, is it not prudent to spend some time understanding it, and learning to accept it and coping with it! It explains that there are distinct differences between a winner and a loser and how the reader, by making the right choices, can become a winner in the journey of life.

The first Chapter, HAPPINESS – HOW TO ACHIEVE IT!

It clears the misconception about the definition of happiness and explains what genuine happiness is and how it is achieved. It mentions a research study that found “clear and compelling evidence” that happier people enjoy better health and longer lives. To achieve happiness and fulfilment in life there is a need for 2 kinds of education, one that teaches us how to make a living and one that teaches us how to live in this world. This education produces 7 types of wealth. Each of us has one or more types of the 7 types of wealth – in varying proportions.
1. Inner wealth
2. Physical wealth
3. Family and Friends wealth
4. Career wealth
5. Economic wealth
6. Adventure wealth
7. Impact wealth

This chapter has a vast amount of information on the ingredients and guidelines to achieve happiness.

There are 7 types of wealth, one of which is Economic wealth. The importance of Economic wealth is explained and methods to enhance it have been suggested. The importance of conducting a SWOT analysis in planning business ventures has been elucidated. Similarly, the SMART approach in business strategy has been proposed. Examples in understanding the current economy in its true perspective have been mentioned.

Fourth Chapter – WHAT UNEMPLOYMENT CAN DO TO INDIVIDUALS AND THE NATION

It has been emphasised that employment and prosperity will follow where the wages are low and where there is sincerity and preparedness for hard work with honesty and loyalty. There are 205 million unemployed in the world (2010 ILO figures). Of these 78 million are under 25 years of age. These youngsters have no hope of finding a job in their own country. Various strategies have been proposed to achieve employment. Examples of Uganda and Saudi Arabia have been considered with different pattern of problems in unemployment.

The changing roles –women becoming more educated than men and also generally becoming the breadwinners – has been discussed. The adverse effects of unemployment on individuals have been put forward as well as the consequences for spouses and family members have been listed. Details of how the individuals are coping with unemployment and how they want to achieve employment have been mentioned. Similarly, how the leaders of the nations are addressing the problems of unemployment and welfare benefits have been included. The consequences of rapid rise in food prices and massive unemployment in a nation have been enumerated with examples.

The careers with a high demand have been listed with details. Stress at work and ways of coping have been mentioned. Details of role models of Employees and Employers have been put forward for individuals to emulate.

Fifth Chapter – THE POWER GAME
History is replete with examples of changes in the power base whether it is a nation or company or organisation. What causes the downfall and how to prevent it have been discussed. The making of a leader and the role and the success or downfall has been discussed with examples. The changing role and security of leadership has been mentioned. The problems to be addressed, for developing nations to become developed, have been listed with proposals for remedy and development.

The role of the internet as a powerful tool in the hands of the unwary has been mentioned with its disastrous consequences for the nations and the leadership. The qualities of a good leader have been listed. Problems affecting various countries lacking justice, rule of law, corruption, unemployment and poverty have been dealt with putting the responsibility on the leader and the people. Leadership on its own is helpless. Where the politicians and the people are projecting a good image, stability, respect and prosperity follows. Secrets of successful leaders are listed. The value of political skills, whether running a business or a nation is emphasised. Ways to manage the riches and resources of a country prudently have been mentioned. The pros and cons of globalisation have been discussed.

Sixth Chapter, ONE GOD – ONE RELIGION – ONE RACE
The need for religion has been discussed and the beneficial role it plays in the lives of those who practise religion. A substantial portion of the people are abandoning religion and those who still belong to a religion are not attending any place of worship has spelled the change of direction. What will be the effects on a grand scale? The existence, the power of God and the benefits of following God’s commandments have been explained with examples and research studies. The unity of God has been proved as quoted in the holy books of religions.

The origin of human race has been explained and also the origin of language proved with research studies. Explanations of why human life lacks peace and security have been provided. The power and the capability of God have been explained with examples. Ways to establish understanding and peace among human beings have been proposed. The rules of conduct of the religion of God have been explained. Religion and politics are separate and should be treated as such. All religions teach the followers to be upright, pious and respect other religions. There are 10,000 religions in existence in the world. Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Hinduism share a great deal more in common than is commonly believed.

There is, in existence, a bond of brotherhood that unites the followers of each religion based on the basic beliefs regardless of the different practices they follow in each respective group. So, there is already a mechanism for unity and respect within each religion. It is as if they belong to one family. Similarly all the followers of all the religions belong to one family called the HUMAN RACE. For disputes to occur between groups in the same religion or between religions in the same HUMAN RACE is nothing surprising. What is not acceptable is inflicting harm, destruction, injury and death to members of the same family. In order to make society work, we do not all have to agree on religious matters; we do not have to accept all religious beliefs as valid. But, it is important that we respect the rights of other individuals and groups to hold different beliefs. Unless we respect the right of others to follow their own faith group, there is no reason why we should expect them to reciprocate by respecting our freedom to be different from them.

Seventh Chapter – Journey TOWARDS A PEACEFUL AND HARMONIOUS WORLD

The changes that have taken place in the last one century have been listed. It is unbelievable! The current state of the world economically, socially and politically has been mentioned. There is abundance of unhappiness, misery, lawlessness, aggression and fragmentation of family units. There is lack of peace and security and people have become restless, aggressive and isolated. They are not enjoying their life in this world which is only a short journey of 70-80 years. There is no need to suffer.

Strategies to achieve peace and harmony in the world have been proposed at various levels. They need to be addressed at the individual level, family level, with the neighbours, at the work place, in community organisations, at the national and international level. These measures have to be implemented to avert a global disaster which appears to be developing. The unprecedented and unexpected events that have occurred recently are significant events for humanity. A global leader is needed who will be in a position to steer the single boat which has 206 cabins with selflessness and courage, without discrimination, with love for peace and justice among humanity

“I wake up every morning and go to sleep every night saying, ‘HEADS YOU WIN TAILS YOU WIN.’ I know in every situation I am going to come out a winner!” Jason
